As much as I would like to think I am the wiliest sprinter B-grade has seen, the honor belongs to this young guy (in the cap with the towel around his neck), the human cannonball, as I have dubbed him. In fairness to me, I have beaten him in 1 out of 4 sprints recently. It was a classic well timed last minute launch from the vortex. His 3 wins have each had their own flavour. 1st, he rolled me when I thought it was all mine. Second, he went from 0-60 in the blink of an eye. Then yesterday he did it the hard way, out the front of the bunch for 400m. I hear his grandfather was an Australian sprint champion. We might be looking at the next Robbie McEwen here, so let’s just remember: one time I beat him!
Prospective sponsors take note: Cannonball has been doing all this on a 30 year old bike with a 5 speed cassette.
