Oh shoot, I done gone traded my “academic freedom” to say what I like, for corporate and government clients. But then I think: “Dr. Behooving, you were a corporate stooge anyhow!” Universities are as Adam Smith wrote in The Wealth of Nations: leagues of lame lecturers who on their own would not attract one single pupil. It’s a lowest common denominator racket, you can trust me on that.

The beauty of this new life of ventures I’m living is having many clients and ventures to choose from. The only drawback is depending for income on public and private organisations who I am naturally inclined to offend. I wouldn’t do that directly. It is simply the case that by pressing my view that cities, even big ones, would work better if everything were geared to a 90% bike modal share, I am bound to disagree with all of you at some point because your thinking is not so advanced.

It is for this reason (everyone’s stupidity, including your own) that I will shortly be taking the move to separate my blog from my website. I can’t guarantee that, when it is launched, will be quite so speculative as the blog that started this all on livejournal in 2009. But it will get up the noses of those trolls who read the bicycling sub-reddits, and quite a few others who I trust you loathe too.

So let’s go! We affirm that the world’s magnificence has been enriched by a new beauty: the beauty of speed. A bicycle that seems to ride on grapeshot is more beautiful than the Victory of Samothrace. [1.]
